Franklin David Nething of Camas, WA, age 83, left this world to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 31, 2025. He is finally at peace after suffering from the effects of dementia for several years.

Franklin was born in Ravenna, OH on December 3, 1941, to Frederick and Grace Nething. He married the love of his life, Arlene Nething, on November 30, 1963. They were soul mates for 61 years. He has three children: Lorraine Moss with husband Brian, Cynthia Olson with husband David and Fred Nething all of Vancouver, WA. There are seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Franklin served in the Air Force for 10 years working on Titan II missiles and in communications. After leaving the Air Force, he then moved the family from Okinawa, Japan to San Diego, CA to start working for Union Carbide as a Facility Maintenance Manager. After 10 years in San Diego, he moved the family to Camas, WA in 1978. He was in charge of building a new facility of Union Carbide in Washougal, WA. He worked there for 10 years before starting a new job with Georgia-Pacific for five years before retiring. Then he worked for the Camas Montessori School as a maintenance person till his health started declining.

Franklin was involved with his church, Camas Nazarene, as well as whatever his children were doing. He was a soccer coach for Fred’s soccer team, the Volcanoes, and he was involved with Cub Scouts. He started the Boy Scout Troop 562 in August of 1988. He was able to be a Scoutmaster to his son, Fred and also to his grandchildren, Carter and Spencer, who all made Eagle. He really enjoyed providing the youth leaders with the tools and skills so they could run the troop meetings, making sure the rules of the BSA are followed and by being a good mentor and positive role model for all young boys. He was able to continue his love of camping and hiking while being involved with the Boy Scouts.

A local Celebration of Life is planned for the near future at the Camas Nazarene Church.
