Joyce Young Hatten passed away Jan. 10, 2021, in Seattle, WA. She was born March 9, 1926, in Portland, OR, to Maurice D. and Ruth Louise Young.
Joyce went to Franklin High School, in Portland. She also received nurse’s training. Joyce was a full-time homemaker.
She was a member of Clark County Quilter’s Group and First Unitarian Church of Portland. Joyce enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, canning, gardening and traveling.
Joyce was happily married to the love of her life for over 58 years, Ralph. One of her greatest joys was having the family gather for happy hours, holidays and special occasions.
She is survived by her daughters, Maureen (Rod) Tipton and Rosanne (Randy) Green; sons, Randy (Brenda) Hatten and Patrick (Patty) Hatten; AFS Panamanian son, Pedro Gonzalez; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and son, Mark Hatten.
A special thanks to the fabulous caregivers at Aegis Living in Seattle for introducing joy back into Joyce’s life and to Rosanne and Randy Green for always anticipating Joyce’s needs with so much love.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to CureAlz, an organization that contributes 100% of donations to Alzheimer research.
A celebration of life for Joyce is to be determined. Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas, WA, is in charge of arrangements.
