Karen Sue Lindsley

Karen Sue Lindsley (Sands), age 82, passed peacefully August 19, 2023 to spend eternity with her beloved savior. Karen was born March 4, 1941 in Vancouver, Washington and continued to live nearby in the town of Washougal. In her later years she found joy in visiting Mesa, Arizona where she lived out her final months Karen met the love of her life Leroy in Vancouver out in the berry fields. They married in 1961 and celebrated 62 years of marriage this last May. They traveled the country during Leroy’s time in the service and really enjoyed seeing the different states. They have two loving children, Debbie who resides in Mesa, Az and Steve who resides in Vancouver, WA. Karen was a dedicated and loving mom first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma.  Karen attended Vancouver Public Schools and graduated from Hudson’s Bay High School. She then went on to beauty school and was a accomplished hair dresser. Her “ladies” would travel for miles for the latest “dos” and especially the conversations. They were not just clients they became lifelong friends. She continued to do hair until it became too difficult for her, although she truly missed it. Karen loved to travel, especially with her family. She traveled throughout the US, as well as Canada, Mexico, Paris and Sydney. She loved board games and playing cards. She loved to read and she loved making Christmas candy. Above all she just really loved spending time with her family and friends.  During the last few months as her health was failing her, she never lost her faith in the Lord. She would tell everyone who would listen that she would be fine. “It is all in Gods hands.” The family finds peace in knowing she is now in her heavenly home and free of the pain she suffered so graciously throughout her life.  Karen is preceded in death by her Mother Delia Richards, Father ID Richards, and sisters Sandy Mortensen, Donette Brumfiel, Saundra Stanford, Michele Foster, and Crystal Armstrong.  She is survived by her husband Leroy, daughter Debbie, son Steve, daughter of her heart Chelsey and her grandkids Arianna, Grayson, Lauren and Andersen, who will miss her greatly.

Cremation services were held in Mesa, AZ.

A memorial service for Karen will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM at GracePoint Christian Church, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98664.

In lieu of flowers the family asks any donations be made to a local animal shelter/rescue.
