KARL D. MARTIN
| February 20, 1960 ~ July 17, 2026
Karl Martin was born in El Paso, Texas, to John and Shirley Martin. With family, he moved to Grants Pass, OR, Washougal, WA, and settled, for the rest of his life, in Camas, WA. He lived for 66 years and died from complications from Parkinson’s disease. In 1979, Karl graduated from Camas High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. In his active duty, he was stationed in San Diego and went on West Pac missions as a sonar technician. In his last assignment, he was stationed at the Portland Air National Guard. After 20 years of service, as a sergeant, he retired from the military. As a civilian, he worked with the State of Oregon at Camp Withycombe. Karl lived the last 2-1/2 years of his life at Heritage Adult Home. He was not alone when he died. His greatest joy and happiness was being married to the beloved of his life: Marie (Bafus) Martin. Their children were their dogs who were protective and comforting in their lives. One of Karl’s passions was attending his church, managing pictures on the screens for the services and attending Wednesday spaghetti feeds. Other passions were being part of the ham radio “world”, hiking, walking and eating out with friends. At home, he worked as a self taught technician. Karl is survived by his siblings: Karina Dana, Kyle Martin, Kevin Martin and 3 nieces: Jordan Bailey, Emily Martin, and Isabelle Dana. Memorial Services will be held at Camas Church of the Nazarene, 2204 Birch St., Camas WA 98607 on Saturday 8/8/26 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Humane Society of SW Washington. |
