Martin Rudolph Hein, 90 years old, a 75-year resident of Washougal, WA, retired lab technician, and proud US Army veteran, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at home, surrounded by his family.
Martin was extremely active in Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, which he helped physically and spiritually build, and later in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
He loved people and being a humble servant in many areas of public service, including volunteering at the Prestige Nursing Home and participating in inter-generational volleyball games.
Martin enjoyed backpacking with family and friends, hiking, walking and hosting family gatherings where food, fellowship and love was shared by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Peggy; brother, Hugo Hein; sister, Hilda Hagen; children, Nancy Bottemiller, Ben Hein, Christie Morris, Annette Howard, Becky Friedrich, Ruth Friedrich; 15 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 3 p.m.
