Hundreds of bright yellow plastic ducks were launched off of the Third Avenue Bridge in Camas on Sunday afternoon as part of the annual Camas-Washougal Rotary Club Ducky Derby event. The fundraiser generates money for the club's scholarships for college bound high school seniors. Winners will be posted on the Rotary website, www.cwduckyderby.org. Among the grand prizes are one week at a Hawaii condo plus airfair for two, a Nintendo Wii and a gold bracelet.

Spectators watch as friends and family members cross the finish line of the 2011 Lacamas Lake Half Marathon and 4 miler events on Sunday. All races started and finished at Camas High School. This marked the eighth year for the event, which drew more than 1,300 people and is organized by Fit Right NW.

The Lacamas Lake Half Marathon gets underway at Cardon Field at Camas High School early Sunday morning. More than 1,300 people participated in the running and walking events, which also included a half marathon walk, 4 mile run and walk, and kids race. The top three male finishers in the half-marathon were Yousseth Zirari of Vancouver in 1:12:25; Eric Frome of Portland in 1:18:12; and Ben Evans of Portland in 1:20:24. The top three female finishers were Biniam Afenegus of Vancouver in 1:30:57; Kristin Lesseig of Corvallis in 1:31:02 and Amanda Hoskins of Portland in 1:31:09. Connor Acheson, 3, of Washougal, was excited to see the bright yellow Silver Star Search and Rescue vehicles make an appearance during the parade. Candy tossed out by many of the parade participants was also a popular feature for the young spectators.

The Lacamas Shores Umbrella Drill Team has become a mainstay entry in the parade. This year to go with the "Jungle" them, their bright orange umbrellas were decked out with stuffed monkeys.

The Afifi Southwest Washington Shrine Clowns delighted the hundreds of people who lined the streets of Camas for the parade. The weather was perfect -- sunny skies and warm temperatures held out for all Camas Days festivities.
