Combined choirs from Washougal High School sang carols during the community Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Reflection Plaza. Live music was also provided by pianist Barbara Curry. Local children assisted Santa with the tree lighting.

Ribbons and lights accented the city's vactor truck. The $375,000 piece of equipment, purchased in 2010, clears storm drains and sewer lines. The parade also included "The Grinch," classic cars and fire trucks.

The float created by Washougal public works staff was among the parade entries. Awards were presented to East County Fire and Rescue (Best use of lights), West Columbia Gorge Humane Society (Best use of sound) and Waste Connections (Santa's best overall). The parade was sponsored by Waste Connections and Columbia Resource Company.

Stylists from Beauty Temptations distributed free emery boards to the crowd watching the parade. Other participants tossed candy from their floats. Bystanders were outfitted with coats and mittens, as they sipped on coffee and hot chocolate.
