Letters to the Editor, Opinion Keep speaking up, students
Congratulations to the Camas High School students for speaking up, as all can in a democracy. (“Camas students to march for gun control” by Tori Benavente, Camas-Washougal Post-Record, March 1, 2018.)
Sending a letter to Representative Herrera Beutler is an excellent idea. The congresswoman has spoken out for bipartisan cooperation to create a better world, even co-sponsoring House Resolution 466 supporting the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). She may even co-sponsor the Reach Every Mother and Child Act, aimed at ending the preventable deaths of millions of mothers and children in our world every year.
The key, students, is to not give up. Continue speaking up, writing and calling those who represent you. You are the future of our country, and I applaud your effort to keep all schools in our country safe.
