Teens invited to design comic book covers

The Washougal Community Library is inviting teens to create their own comic book covers from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27.

Artist Randy Emberlin will lead the free workshop.

He is best known for long runs as an “inker” on “Amazing Spider-Man,” “GI JOE,” “Doctor Strange,” “Alien Legion,” “Ghost” and the “Left Behind” series for Wildstorm.

The library is located at 1661 “C” St.

Skyridge Middle School hosts ‘welcome back’ events

Skyridge Middle School, 5220 N.W. Parker St., invites students and their families to attend welcome back events for the 2010-11 school year.

Sixth-grade students and families are invited on Wednesday, Sept. 1, and seventh- and eighth-grade students and families on Thursday, Sept. 2.

Both events will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.

Students will have the opportunity to come and meet with staff, pick up class schedules, complete school item purchases, ask questions, tour the campus, purchase smoothies and see old friends.

In addition, the Skyridge main office is now open weekdays from 8 am to 2:30 p.m.

CHS orientation dates set

Camas High School, 26900 S.E. 15th St., will host an orientation for grades 10 through 12 on Tuesday, Aug. 31, in the CHS commons.

Orientation times are 9 a.m. for seniors, 10 am. for juniors, and 12:30 p.m. for sophomores.

Freshmen will attend orientation from 9:30 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, in the CHS main gym. Call 833-5750 for details.
