Santa visits Camas City Hall

St. Nick doles out presents, coal

Despite a busy schedule, Santa Claus paid a special visit to Camas City Hall on Monday.

He handed out gifts to City Council members. Mayor Scott Higgins, however, received something quite different.

“Evidently I’m on the naughty list,” he said with a smile. “I got a lump of coal this year. I am going to try harder next year Santa. I really am.”

In an effort to get back into St. Nick’s good graces, Higgins proclaimed Dec. 21, 2015, “Santa Appreciation Day.”

“Santa has put smiles on the faces of thousands of Camas youth and parents, as the children sat on his lap and told him what they wanted for Christmas,” read the proclamation. “Santa has contributed to making Camas’ Hometown Holidays the best Christmas tree lighting event around.”
