Camas golfers win Allard Memorial tournament

Owen Huntington won the Portland City/Bob Allard Memorial Boys Open Division Championship on Aug. 1, at the Rose City Golf Club in Portland. The Camas golfer made nine birdies over the course of two rounds.

A pair of Camas golfers captured championship trophies from the Portland City/Bob Allard Memorial tournament, on July 31 and Aug. 1, at the Rose City Golf Course in Portland.

Owen Huntington shot 3-under par in the final round to edge out Scotty Kennon and Johnny Ward by three strokes for first place in the Boys Open Division. Huntington collected nine birdies over the course of two rounds, including seven birdies on the final day. He finished first with a total of 143 strokes.

Hailey Oster won a one-hole playoff to clinch the Girls Open Championship. Oster and McKenna Vanko, of Portland, tied for first place with a 155. Oster then made par on the first playoff hole to secure the championship.

Oster will be a Camas High School senior this fall. She tied for ninth at the 4A state tournament in the spring and helped the Papermakers rise to second place as a team.

Emma Cox, Oster’s high school teammate, earned fourth place in the Girls Open Division at the Allard Invitational, with a score of 160.

Cox tied for third place at state for the Papermakers. She will be a junior this fall.
