Papermakers suffer 2-1 loss to Union

The Camas boys soccer team fell to Union on Friday, April, 13. The first half was scoreless, but in the second half Camas went up 1-0 with a goal by Jake Fuller. Union came back to score two goals and win the match 2-1. Camas, Evergreen and Heritage are tied for first place, all with records of 2-1 in league play.

Camas softball shuts out Union

The Camas girls softball team put in a dominating performance against Union High School Monday. The Papermakers shut out Union 9- 0 and Camas ace pitcher Kennedy Ferguson allowed just three hits, throwing 17 strikeouts. She also had a stellar day with the bat, hitting two for three, including a home run.

Other highlights: Seanna Miller 2-4, 2 R, 3B; Kyli Obermiller 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI; Kennedy Ferguson 2-3, 2 RBI, 1 R, HR; Abby Wong 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 R; Emery Miller 1-2, 2 RBI.

Camas shines at Oregon Relays

Camas boys and girls track athletes were honored to be among 140 high schools from across the nation invited to compete at the annual Oregon Relays meet in Eugene, Oregon, on Saturday, April 14.

The Papermakers won first place in the sprint medley with the team of Issiah Abdul, Bryce Leighton, Black Deringer and Daniel Maton. Halle Jenkins finished first in the 2K Steeplechase. Zachary Terry came in third in the 200 meters. The girls distance medley team of Ellie Postma, Camille Vaughan, Emily Wilson and Halle Jenkins finished fourth. Madison Peffers got fifth in the high jump. Emma Jenkins finished fifth in the 3,000 meters. Ahmika Kluka tossed the javelin into seventh place. Lucy George was eighth in the 100 meter hurdles. Blake Deringer finished eighth in the 100 meters. Maggie Wells threw the discus for 10th place.
