The recent NW Natural Parade of Homes brought attention to East Clark County this year, with thousands of people touring 10 homes in The Parklands at Camas Meadows over the past two weeks.

The annual event, produced by the Building Industry Association of Clark County, provided ideas for building, remodeling, landscaping, decorating and buying a new home Sept. 7 through Sept. 23.

Nine of the showcased homes at The Parklands, located just east of the Camas Meadows Golf Club, have already sold.

“The Maldivian,” a 4,070-square-foot, four-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom, four-car-garage home by Gecho Homes, is listed for $2.5 million, furnished, according to Rachel Gecho, a broker with Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty. The one-level home has an outdoor living space with a gas fire pit, pizza oven, shower and spa.

The last time a Camas development was featured during the Parade of Homes was in 2002, when 12 houses were part of the event at Holly Hills Estates on Prune Hill.

Awna and Jason Underwood, of Camas, have previously attended two NW Parade of Homes events, and were excited to see this year’s houses in their hometown. Awna said she liked that some of the homes provided one-story accessibility.

Jason, a real estate agent, was interested in the designs of the homes and the products used, while Awna said she enjoyed seeing the decor, as well as the design.

She said the most memorable aspect of attending this year’s Parade of Homes was seeing the swimming pools and pool houses.

“We enjoy swimming, and spend a lot of time and money at pools every summer,” Awna said. “Especially with our beloved Crown Park pool being out of commission, it brought me joy thinking of the people who would be swimming at these homes, and I hope they extend the invite to their neighbors. We are available.”

Parade of Homes visitors voted for their favorite homes in several categories, including kitchen, master suite, floor plan, outdoor living area and best of show. The builders will find out the honorees during an awards dinner, Thursday, Oct. 18.

The 2019 NW Natural Parade of Homes also will be held in Camas, at Dawson’s Ridge, located near the intersection of Southeast Brady and Northwest McIntosh roads. The future gated community has 39 home sites.
