Letters to the Editor County councilors refuse facts that don’t match worldviews
Once again, Clark County Council Chair Eileen Quiring O’Brien and Councilor Gary Medvegy have demonstrated in public the practice of refusing to notice facts that disprove their worldview: Everything’s fine — those Black and brown people are happy and, if they’re not, it’s their own fault.
The facts, as presented by the health department, do not bear that out. Human beings are marvelous creatures. We can only be informed if we allow ourselves to be informed. Ignorance is never blameworthy. But refusing to be informed is a choice, and each of us is responsible for our choices.
