Washougal School District is seeking applicants to fill its open District 5 school board position, which has been vacant since former school board member Ron Dinius resigned in June.

Applicants must be registered to vote and reside within District 5, which is generally bounded on the north and west by the Washougal River and runs south to “W” Street. The district includes Turtle Terrace, and runs east to west across Clark and Skamania counties.

Board directors Cory Chase, Angela Hancock, Donna Sinclair and Jim Cooper will screen applicants and conduct interviews. The school board members hope to appoint the candidate in early September, according to Les Brown, the school district’s director of information technology and communications.

The new school board member will serve the remainder of Dinius’ term, which expires in November 2021.

The application deadline is Friday, Aug. 14. For more information and application materials, visit washougal.k12.wa.us.

Paving of Brady Road in Camas to begin July 27

Contractors will begin paving Brady Road in Camas on Monday, July 27. The paving is expected to last three days, and drivers are advised to use alternative routes to avoid traffic in the area.

The intersection of Brady Road and Northwest 167th Avenue will be closed from 3 to 7 a.m. during the paving work. Flaggers will alert motorists to the detour. After 7 a.m., traffic will be limited to one-lane, flagged traffic.

All work is dependent on the weather. If the roadway is wet or if there is a threat of rain in the forecast, the work may be rescheduled.
