Portland police have identified Zachary David Crist, 28, of Camas, as the pedestrian killed by a motorcyclist traveling at “extreme speeds” in Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood on Friday, Aug. 28.

Police said Dylan M. Foord, 27, of Newberg, Oregon, was riding a BMW motorcycle on North Lombard Street in Portland at 11:35 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28, traveling westbound “at an extremely high rate of speed” when he struck Crist, a pedestrian, in the roadway near the 6100 block.

Both Crist and Foord died at the scene.

Officers responding to the crash noted numerous cars and motorcycles leaving the area from what appeared to be “an illegal speed racing event.”

“These dangerous events have been an ongoing concern, and often feature cars doing stunts and displays of speed with spectators very close by,” Portland police stated in a press release.

Investigators believe there may be witnesses to the crash or the events leading up to the crash, and possibly video of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Portland police officer Garrett Dow by calling 503-823-5070 or emailing Garrett.Dow@portlandoregon.gov.

The crash was the 28th traffic fatality in Portland this year.
