‘Spring into History’ at Camas First Friday event on April 1

Visitors to downtown Camas can explore the city’s history and celebrate spring this week during the Downtown Camas Association’s monthly First Friday event, set to begin at 5 p.m. Friday, April 1, throughout historic downtown Camas.

The “Spring into History” First Friday celebration will feature a History Walking Tour with Clark County Historical Museum Director Brad Richardson, beginning at 6 p.m. in the lobby of Journey Church, 304 N.E. Fourth Ave., as well as a history exhibit inside the Georgia-Pacific paper mill’s interpretive lobby, at 401 N.E. Adams St., that will show mill history through a pictorial timeline, a video with local historian Virginia Warren and many mill artifacts spanning the decades.

Other First Friday events include:

  • A Camas history passport game with prizes from participating businesses.
  • The grand opening of the new 1950s-style malt shop at Natalia’s Cafe, at 437 N.E. Fourth Ave., featuring a a free small ice cream with a topping token for children, classic cars, music, a hula hoop contest at 6 p.m., a pie-eating contest at 6:30 p.m. and a fashion show at 7 p.m.
  • S’mores making (weather permitting) at iQ Credit Union, 236 N.E. Fourth Ave.
  • Art receptions with wine and live music at the Attic Gallery, 421 N.E. Cedar St., and Camas Gallery, 408 N.E. Fourth Ave.
  • Crafts at LiveWell Camas, 417 N.E. Birch St.
