Moral high ground in Gaza

The New York Times recently reviewed social media postings in which Israeli soldiers were vandalizing classrooms, deriding Palestinians and joking about having razed entire Gazan towns.

One soldier, smiling and giving a thumbs up, reportedly wrote: “I stopped counting how many neighborhoods I’ve erased.”

If this type of combat behavior is fostered or even tolerated among the ranks, what moral high ground can Israel possibly hope to claim?
