The city of Washougal will host a free Earth Day celebration, “Paws for the Planet,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25 at Reflection Plaza.
The family- and pet-friendly event will feature a pet parade and costume contest at 12:30 p.m., along with educational booths, giveaways and activities focused on environmental stewardship. Registration is required for the parade.
As part of the event, the city and Washington State Department of Natural Resources will distribute 240 free Western white pine seedlings to help expand Washougal’s tree canopy.
The event coincides with National Scoop the Poop Week (April 23–29). Washougal police will hand out “Kindness 911” citations to residents seen cleaning up after pets to promote park and waterway health.
