Downtown Camas will celebrate comics, science fiction, fantasy and pop culture during the fourth annual Camas Comic Con from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, as part of the city’s First Friday festivities.

The free, family-friendly event will feature cosplay, character photo opportunities, light saber lessons, fandom-themed trivia and puzzles, cosplay bingo and sticker trading throughout downtown businesses. The first 300 attendees to check in at the Downtown Camas Association registration table inside Fuel Medical Group, 314 N.E. Birch St., will receive a collectible lanyard.

Participants can complete a “Fandom Fun!” passport activity for a chance to win prizes donated by downtown merchants. Other activities include themed book displays from the Camas Public Library, comic book-inspired art demonstrations at Fuel Medical Group, a life-sized TARDIS from “Doctor Who” outside the Liberty Theatre and a superhero guessing game.

Visitors also can browse art exhibits at Attic Gallery, Gallery 408, RedDoor Gallery and the Second Story Gallery, enjoy live music, shop downtown businesses and purchase shaved ice from Straub’s Snow.

The event is open to fans of comics, anime, Disney, science fiction, fantasy, movies and other pop culture genres.
