Plans to renovate the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds will move forward after the county council authorized $44 million in limited tax general obligation bonds to finance the work.
The council previously approved moving forward with $31 million in financing for the renovation work in April. The additional costs approved last week relate to work at the back end of the project.
“When we brought this to you before, we did not have the construction costs for the 2030 to 2032 portion,” Michelle Schuster, director of internal services, told the council.
The additional construction costs are estimated at $12 million, along with $1 million for bond issuance costs, bringing the total amount of financing to $44 million.
The first round of financing — estimated at $30.9 million — will happen in the fall, with the remaining $12 million, not including bond costs, financed by the end of 2029.
