Clammers along the Washington coast could see a reduction in the daily limit of geoduck clams, and an increase in the harvestable size of cockles if proposed rules changes are enacted.

WDFW proposes shellfish rule changes

The Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife has proposed rule changes for recreational clam, mussel, and oyster seasons, as well as increasing the size of harvestable cockles, and a reduction in the geoduck daily limit from three to one. They are requesting public comments on the possible changes.

Clark County again tops state for evictions

Clark County recorded the highest number of eviction filings per capita in Washington for the third consecutive year, according to state data. Legal aid attorneys point to the widening gap between rental prices and incomes.

Melnick fearful of vaccine rollbacks

Vaccination rates for Clark County’s K-12 students have been slipping over the past five years, and with recent federal rollbacks in childhood immunization recommendations, local health officials fear there will be serious, long-term impacts on community health.

Clark County Council works on zoning map

Although Clark County missed the state’s Dec. 31 deadline for updating its 20-year growth plan, the county council started the new year with a pair of work sessions aimed at moving the project forward.
