One-day Bonneville sturgeon retention crowded

A one-day retention season for sturgeon was held on Monday in the Columbia River’s Bonneville Pool, and although anglers did catch the lion’s share of the catch quota, they did not blow past the quota during the event, as they did last year.

The fishery was delayed from its usual starting date of Jan. 1, because fisheries managers were afraid that the river conditions at that time were too good to allow the fishery to go forward as is typical.
