OMSI to fete Clark County astronaut Michael Barratt

Clark County native Michael Barratt has been all around — and around and around — our world. You can hear the astronaut talk about what that’s been like during an upcoming weekend of short presentations and meet-and-greets, set for Oct. 3 and 4 at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland.

Returning to OMSI will be a homecoming of sorts for Barratt, who was born in Vancouver and grew up in Camas. He made frequent trips to OMSI during his youth, according to a press release from the museum, and built his own telescope with personal guidance from OMSI’s then-planetarium director.
