C-W Chamber hires new administrative assistant

The executive director of the Downtown Camas Association has been hired as the new administrative assistant at the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce. Brenda Schallberger assisted with the chamber's holiday lunch Thursday, and she started training at the chamber office Friday. "In taking this role with the C-W Chamber of Commerce, I can continue to provide support for businesses in an even broader scope -- encompassing the communities of both Camas and Washougal," she said. "I will enjoy a role in the future prosperity of both."

Columbia Credit Union hires new assistant manager

Columbia Credit Union recently announced that it has hired a new assistant manger in Washougal. According to a press release, Darcie Williams will work with manager Ed Hakanovic to develop and manage a cohesive branch team focused on meeting credit union service, sales and operational goals. Williams will also be responsible for staff development, compliance and efficient branch operations.

A business that expanded to downtown Camas two years ago is seeking a tenant for its retail/office space. Bead Paradise owners Shane and Desiree Woodward will continue to provide online and wholesale sales, as well as trunk shows.

The plumbing technicians also do crawl space restoration and storm drain pumping. Their range of responsibilities includes fixing drippy faucets and working on remodels. "We try to stay diversified, to serve a variety of needs," Mike Jones said. "That's how we survived the recession. There's pretty much nothing we won't do."

Clark County Plumbing expands operations

A hometown business has experienced growth over nine years, in terms of employment numbers and square footage. Clark County Plumbing & Drain LLC relocated its office in August, from the Camas home of Mike and Erin Jones to the former Abacast office, at 1902 S.E. Sixth Ave., also in Camas. Temple Financial collects ‘Giving Tree’ donations

During this holiday season, Temple Financial is once again having its annual Giving Tree on display to help local families in need. The tree, located inside the Temple Financial office at 532 N.E. Third Ave., Ste. 200, in Camas, features ornamental tags with the ages of children and their likes, sizes and Christmas wishes. Presents will be wrapped and hand-delivered just before Christmas to the families that have been adopted.

Purpose is to improve police procedures

Citizens who come into contact with Clark County Sheriff's Office deputies can now take a survey to rate their encounters with law enforcement. As part of the National Police Research Platform's Police Community Interaction survey, which is being administered by the University of Illinois at Chicago, feedback could help improve police procedures and approaches in Clark County, Washington State and nationwide.

Munroe presented with the Roy D. Hoover Award

A Clark County employee was recently recognized for his achievements in affordable housing and national community and economic development programs. Pete Munroe, program manager for Clark County's Housing and Community Development program, was presented with the Roy D. Hoover Award by the National Association for County Community and Economic Development.

Sarah McGuire has opened Echo Resale, in downtown Washougal. The new business has clothing, toys, books, music accessories and records. McGuire is seeking sweaters, coats, sporting goods, tools, DVDs, yarn and other craft supplies. "Downtown Washougal is on the cusp of having all a town needs and wants, with the bonus of being driven by local small businesses," McGuire said. "There are good places to eat, shop and interact with others. It's our hope that Echo Resale will be one more component to a rich hometown economy."

Echo Resale offers consignment opportunities

A new shop features a wide variety of items -- new and used -- in downtown Washougal. During business hours, visitors at Echo Resale can peruse racks of clothing in front of waterskis, a wakeboard and a children's-sized kayak on display outside. Inside, there is more clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women and children, as well as games, toys, books, dishes, fashion jewelry, baby blankets and cat carriers. In the arts and crafts section, there are fabrics, yarn, paints, art sets and stamps to use on cards. Library assistant promoted to district position

A former senior assistant at the Washougal Community Library has been promoted. Janet Alder, of Washougal, is the new marketing and outreach coordinator for the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District. She was selected by an interview panel comprised of employees from throughout the district.
