The instructors at Bead Paradise teach classes including basic beading and how to make tennis bracelets, "Capture a Stone" pendants and ornament covers. Birthday parties and children's beading classes are also available. Bead Paradise sells semi precious, crystal, glass and Pandora style beads, as well as jewelers tools and supplies.

A community-minded couple has teamed up with several local instructors to generate excitement for creating jewelry and crafts by hand. Shane and Desiree Woodward have opened Bead Paradise, in downtown Camas. "I am very focused on being a family friendly business and involved in the community," Shane Woodward said. He said Desiree fell in love with downtown Camas after she attended "Girls Night Out," a fund raiser for cancer charities, in May.

New Seasons Market to open Nov. 9 in east Vancouver

The New Seasons Market in east Vancouver will be open in time to shop for Thanksgiving dinner. The grocery store that will anchor the Fisher's Landing Marketplace, at 164th and McGillivray Blvd., is expected to open Wednesday, Nov. 9. Grand opening festivities are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

A small business in downtown Camas is doing what it can to help clients of the Children's Center. Twilight Pizza Bistro is accepting donations of personal care items such as shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, mouthwash, toothbrushes, hairbrushes and combs, toilet paper and paper towels, soap and feminine hygiene products through Monday.

School of Piano Technology welcomes new executive director

A former director of the Oral Hull Foundation for the Blind in Sandy, Ore., and the Mittleman Jewish Community Center in Portland has been hired as the executive director of the School of Piano Technology for the Blind, in Vancouver.

A product and gear showcase is planned for Friday, Oct. 21, and food and beverages will be available Saturday, Oct. 22, during the grand opening festivities.

Pushing the limits

A man who went skydiving for his senior project at Washougal High School has opened a shop that appeals to fellow adventurers in his hometown. Eric Hargrave, a 2003 WHS graduate, wrote his senior paper about the psychology of doing extreme sports. In addition to skydiving, he went kite boarding and snowboarding. The project included videotaped evidence of Hargrave's accomplishments. Hargrave owns Limitless Snow-Wake-Surf -- a two-year-old former home-based business -- that sells a variety of Ronix wake boards, Radar waterskis and apparel. A shipment of snow boards, bindings, boots and helmets, along with gloves, hats, socks, hoodies and T-shirts, is expected to arrive this week.
