When the Camas School District reduced bus service as a cost-saving measure in 2010, it meant a big increase in kids walking to school. As a result, more emphasis has been placed on having crossing guards at busy intersections to help students travel safely.

It involves a team of students who demonstrate their knowledge of science by working together on events ranging from biology and physics to hands-on creations. On Saturday, the Camas High School Science Olympiad team will host its annual tournament for middle schools. The students come from Washington, Oregon and California to participate in the competition. "We invite anyone of all ages to come experience this display of intelligence and hard work," CHS Science Olympiad team member Eugene Hsu said.
