Camas School Board hears update on district’s ‘choice schools’

It has been nine months since Camas students, staff and families flooded Camas School Board meetings in the spring of 2023 to support their unique “choice schools” in the wake of the district’s announced budget cuts and Discovery High School students participated in a planned walk-out the day before their 2022-23 spring break to protest the district’s plan to unify the project-based learning Discover High with the remote K-12 Camas Connect Academy (CCA).

Washougal High students take ‘Brightpath’

Gabby McCormick said she knew she was interested in interior design when she first used the YouScience program known as “Brightpath” during the 2021-22 school year at Washougal High School, but she didn’t realize how much the program would help her gain the practical information she needed to help plan her future career goals.

‘Mileage Club’ proves popular with Washougal students

Every Tuesday, Columbia Gorge Elementary (CRG) School students spend 15 minutes of their time running or walking around the Jemtegaard Middle School track. They aren’t required to participate in the Boosters’ Mileage Club. They choose to do so because they enjoy competing with their friends, earning rewards, and getting — or staying — fit.

Camas School District will place levies on February ’24 ballot

Camas School District voters will soon decide the fate of the district’s educational programs and operations (EPO) and capital-technology levies that fund a variety of programs, extracurriculars, technology needs and building maintenance not covered by state educational funds.
