Paddleboarders from all walks of life arrived in Washougal for the first SUP Salmon Classic Sunday, at Capt. William Clark Park. The 8-mile long course challenge featured more than 30 competitors from all around the world. The 4-mile short course and the 2-mile novice race each had 15 participants. A softball game, involving city officials from Camas and Washougal Friday night, resulted in four different scores, depending on who was asked.

Paige Maas, 10; Blake Bell, 11; and Makayla Buzzell, 11; rode 27 miles in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fundraiser event July 26 at the Hillsboro Stadium. The three locals were Red Riders, bicycle riders with diabetes, and each raised $1,000 or more. Tour de Cure raised more than $400,000 for diabetes research, education and advocacy.
