In three days, Camas High School is going to be playing football in the Tacoma Dome for the first time. "Every year, I go up and watch the best teams in the state play. This year, I don't have to pay for a ticket," said senior linebacker Kyle Goodnow. "It's a dream come true, but we're not done yet. It's full steam ahead now."
Here is the list of the Camas and Washougal high school fall all-league athletes and coaches.

The Papermakers became a well-oiled machine Friday, in their 48-14 victory over Kennedy Catholic at Doc Harris Stadium. For the second year in a row, Camas (10-1) is one more win away from playing football in the Tacoma Dome for the first time in school history. Standing in the way is Meadowdale (11-0), who comes to town to play the Papermakers in the state quarterfinals Saturday at Doc Harris Stadium. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
Warriors love the big fight. The Camas High School girls soccer players were in one with Shorecrest during the first round of the state tournament Nov. 8, at Doc Harris Stadium. Down to the last second of double overtime, the Papermakers inched closer and closer to scoring the winning goal in a 0-0 contest. Just a few more minutes on the clock might have been their ticket to paradise. Anything to avoid the shootout, where Shorecrest emerged victorious by the score of 4-3.
Anna Panebianco made a big splash at her first high school state swimming meet, and so did three other Camas Papermakers. Panebianco captured third place in the 3A championship finals of the 100-meter backstroke Saturday, at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way. The freshman finished with a personal best time of 59.92 seconds. "That's a swim where she really put her heart and soul into it," said head coach Mike Bemis. "She had been trying to break that one-minute mark all season. For her to be able to do it at the right time and in the proper place is really outstanding."
The Camas High School football team raked Kennedy 48-14 Friday, at Doc Harris Stadium, to reach the state quarterfinals for the second year in a row. Is this the year the Papermakers make it to the Tacoma Dome for the first time? We'll all find out next week, when Meadowdale or Mercer Island come to town.
The Camas girls cross country runners carried themselves with confidence and swagger. That's how they became state champions. "Pressure happens when you really want something," said head coach Mike Hickey. "Our girls stayed very humble and focused. They knew all seven of them had to have a great day on the same day, and they all certainly did. It's just so cool to see young people flourish in challenging environments."
After losing the district title to Prairie by one point, the Camas volleyball players were not going to let that happen again. "When our girls knew they had another shot at Prairie, in their minds they were not going to lose to them again," said Camas head coach Julie Nidick. "Prairie is a great team, but on this day, we were the better team. It was our mistakes that cost us the match against them at districts. My girls were not going to let this one get away from them again." The Papermakers played with a chip on their shoulders in the bi-district championship tournament Friday and Saturday, at Auburn Mountainview High School. After defeating Bonney Lake and Capital Friday to qualify for state for the eighth year in a row, Camas rallied back from two sets down to defeat Auburn Mountainview in five.
