Jacques Badolato-Birdsell had hoped to lead the Camas High School football team to a second consecutive 4A state championship this fall. But after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement of the prep football season, the senior running back has had ample time to reflect on his passion for the sport and the importance of his bonds with his teammates and coaches.
The Camas High School football team’s top passer and best runner will continue their careers at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division-I level.
More than 200 runners competed in the fifth annual Scary Run in Washougal on Oct. 31. Live 5K and 10K races began and ended at Reflection Plaza in downtown Washougal.
Although the Camas and Washougal equestrian teams are both members of the Washington High School Equestrian Teams Association, only one team may be able to compete this season.
Camas and Washougal high school student-athletes won’t participate in any official competitions for at least two more months, but new guidelines from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) have given them hope that they’ll be able to return to the practice field soon.
Melissa Joyal displayed a natural talent for golf after picking up a club for the first time as a freshman at Fort Vancouver High School, but she knew that she couldn’t rely solely on her physical gifts to achieve her goals. Her intense passion for the game allowed her to develop an equally strong work ethic to match her abilities.
The ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis has, once again, thrown a wrench into the 2020-21 high school sports seasons.
