Kierstyn Tuel of Camas has been named to the fall semester honor roll at Montana State University in Bozeman. To be named to the honor roll, students must earn at least a 3.5 GPA for the semester.

Camas teen leads by example
An aspiring medical professional is enjoying his time serving as president of the American Red Cross of Southwest Washington Youth Council.
Kendrick "Kenny" Kim, 17, of Camas, has been on the council for two years. Before that time, he volunteered to assist with Red Cross office tasks and he cleaned the faces of mannequins that were used in CPR classes.

New board member Karen Rubino wants to become more involved
Electrician. Construction manager. Business co-owner. Mother.
Karen Rubino has had several titles during her life and now she’s adding another: School board member.
Rubino, a 14-year Washougal resident, is the newest member of the Washougal School Board.
When asked why she ran for the board, Rubino said she wanted to make a difference in her community and the timing was right.

Funding the future
Gary Tipton had a passion for technology, one that he advocated for during his time on the Camas School Board.
After he died from pancreatic cancer in 2008, his wife, Mary Tipton, made a donation in his memory to support the Camas-Washougal High School Robotics Team.
When the students received the material to build their robots for the 2011-12 season, they were curious as to the donor.

Cape Horn-Skye Elementary students made more than 150 cards for Columbia Gorge-area residents serving overseas in the U.S. military.

Local students qualify for state Lego League tourney
A local group of students will be heading to the Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program FIRST LEGO League state tournament next month.
The local team was selected from 20 teams at a recent qualifying competition in Vancouver, which earned them a spot in the state tournament next month.
