Project aims to beautify the south shore of Lacamas Lake

The City of Camas and Boy Scout Troop 565 are coming together to work toward improving the habitat and beauty of the south shore of Lacamas Lake. The organizations are hoping citizens will also step forward to join the effort.

Nearly 400 youth and adults from the Vancouver East Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints participated in a pioneer trek, July 27 to 30. The goal of the event is for kids ages 14 to 16 to gain an understanding of what Mormon pioneers went through 170 years ago when they migrated across America to the Salt Lake Valley in Utah.

Two-hundred seventy local youth recently spent time away from the traditional comforts of home, to get a taste of what life was like for Mormon pioneers more than 170 years ago.
