Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and others placed more than 500 wreaths on veterans' graves Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, in the Camas Cemetery as part of the national Wreaths Across America event. Camas-Washougal Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4278 organized the annual ceremony. (Post-Record files)

The public is invited to participate in a free Wreaths Across America event at 11 a.m.Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Camas Cemetery, 630 N.E. Oak St., Camas.

Members of the public can honor fallen heroes by sponsoring a wreath, volunteering or inviting friends and family to help at the event. All are welcome to help, and do not have to sponsor a wreath to assist with the event.

Each year, the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4278, along with Camas residents, place hundreds of wreaths on the graves of veterans at the Camas Cemetery as part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America event.

More than 2,500 cemeteries around the country are set to participate in this year’s Wreaths Across America events.
