The Washougal High School cheerleading squad is raising money to attend the University of Washington football team’s home game against the University of California-Berkeley on Saturday, Sept. 23, when they will perform with the Huskies cheerleaders at halftime.

“In the past parents have been able to give the girls rides up to the game, (but) this year we have been informed that parents are not able to (do that),” Washougal resident Elisha Jones wrote on the GoFundMe website. “This brings on an unexpected expense for the team. The girls are technically a club at the school, so busing is not a covered cost (and) additional expenses will need to be paid on their own. If they do not come up with the money to pay for busing, they will not be able to attend this event. The girls would love to attend this event, and with your support they could make this happen.”
