Camas and Washougal city councilors were sworn into office during council meetings on Dec. 2.
In Camas, incumbent Martin Elzingre, who ran unopposed, took the oath of office. In Washougal, incumbents David Stuebe (Position 1) and David Fritz, who ran unopposed, were sworn in, along with Marty Swofford, who defeated Cam Stevens in November’s election for Position 6, formerly held by Julie Russell.
Incumbents Tim Hein (Ward 2) and Marilyn Boerke (Ward 1), and newcomer Mahsa Eshghi (Ward 3) will be sworn into their positions in January. Hein ran unopposed, while Boerke defeated challenger Geoerl Niles and Eshghi unseated Leslie Lewallen.
Both cities also marked the certification of Proposition 2, in which the cities asked voters to approve the formation of a regional fire authority. The measure passed by a combined margin of 51.6 percent to 48.3 percent, certified Nov. 25 by the Clark County Elections Department.
