Dance 5.0, a new local organization that aims to create safe spaces where people of all ages can connect, celebrate and express themselves through movement, will host an all-ages, alcohol-free dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Jack, Will and Rob Center, at 2033 N.E. Ione St., in Camas.
The evening will feature the local talents of DJ Melvin who specializes in large events and will be playing music from diverse genres to keep everyone on their feet.
“We would love to see these events bringing people of all ages together, from bouncing toddlers to our beloved elderly,” said Natalia, owner of Dance 5.0. “There is a magic that happens when people across generations can spend time together and connect.”
Complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks will be provided courtesy of the Downtown Camas Association.
Tickets are limited and are priced at $10 per person for ages 18 and older and $5 per person for under 18 years of age. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
“I feel that our society has lost sight of the values of dancing, which are far-reaching in their ability to help both our physical and mental health – especially during a time when social isolation and loneliness have reached epidemic proportions,” Homestead said. “I see dance as a way to celebrate life; release our life stressors; and bring people of varying ages and backgrounds together in a way that’s both meaningful and enjoyable.”
