The Washougal High School drama department will present its annual “Haunted House” production from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Nov. 1, at Washougal High School, 1201 39th St., Washougal.
Tickets cost $6 and are only available online at gofan.co (search Washougal).
The event, titled “Forgotten…,” is a student-created, student-run fundraiser for the Washougal High drama club that is “focused on an abandoned city that may not be all that abandoned,” according to the Washougal School District website.
“I think the kids have watched way too many YouTube videos of people going to and exploring ghost towns and abandoned spaces, so they’re going with that kind of theme,” said WHS drama teacher Kelly Gregersen. “We’re going through these dark halls of these abandoned buildings, and they may or may not totally be abandoned.”
The annual event traditionally attracts long lines and positive community feedback, according to Gregersen.
“As far as I know, this is the largest student-run haunted house in the area,” he said. “I hear a lot from people that it’s a little scarier than they thought it would be (considering it’s a) student-created performance. We’ve got such a great space at the high school to use for it, and we’re usually just loaded with people.”
