The city of Washougal will host a new “Movies in the Park” series this summer, offering three free outdoor movie nights at Hathaway Park.

The Saturday evening series will feature “Hoppers” on Aug. 15, “Project Hail Mary” on Aug. 22 and “Animal Farm” on Aug. 29.

Pre-show activities will begin around 7 p.m., shortly before sunset, with movies starting at dusk, approximately 8 p.m.

“Movies in the Park is about creating opportunities for connection,” Parks and Cemetery Program Manager Corinthia Barnhart said in a news release. “We want people to feel welcome in our parks and to have fun, positive experiences together.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low-back chairs, dress for cooler evening temperatures and pack out their trash after the event. A limited number of noise-dampening headphones will be available for people who are sensitive to noise or prefer a quieter viewing experience.

The city is also seeking one or two food vendors for each event and is inviting local businesses to support the series through sponsorships or in-kind donations.
