Camas to hold town hall to discuss government change proposal

Camas residents will have an opportunity next month to learn more about a potential change to the city’s form of government and share their thoughts during a town hall meeting 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Camas School District’s Zellerbach Administration Center.

City officials will provide information about what a change in government structure could mean for Camas, answer questions and gather public feedback.

The Camas City Council voted in July to begin the process of exploring whether to change from the city’s current council-manager form of government to a mayor-council system. The effort could ultimately lead to a ballot measure asking voters to decide whether to adopt the new structure.

City officials said residents are encouraged to attend the town hall whether they support the proposal, have concerns or simply want to learn more.
