Second Story Gallery to feature original children’s book artwork

The Second Story Gallery at the Camas Public Library will showcase original artwork from 15 children’s book illustrators from the Portland-Vancouver area during its exhibition “Between Page & Panel: A Celebration of Local Children’s Book Illustrators” from Sept. 4 through Oct. 17.

Coordinated by Camas illustrator Lauren Akazawa Mendez, the exhibition features original paintings, drawings and sketches used to create children’s picture books and graphic novels.

The library also will host three free public events: an opening reception from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4; Illustrator Day, featuring artist meet-and-greets, live drawing demonstrations and hands-on art activities, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19; and an artist panel discussion at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2.
