John Anderson didn’t set out to create one of the United States’ most prominent wholesale food distributors. He simply wanted to leave his job as a millworker in Bingen, Washington, just outside of White Salmon.
It’s a warm Friday afternoon in late July and the Camas Days Kids Parade has just finished winding its way down the town’s main drag. On the other end of Camas’ downtown core, children are starting to pour into the recently opened Body Bliss yoga studio.

The new open-air Riverview Pavilion at Skamania Lodge just opened to corporate gatherings, weddings and groups in mid-May, but the 2,500-square-foot space is already booked solid on weekends through the fall.
