Camas officials weigh intersection improvements

A recent analysis of a busy Camas intersection shows the merger of Northwest Lake Road and Northwest Sierra Street must be improved to withstand future population growth, ensure the safety of road users and alleviate long wait times for drivers turning left from Sierra Street onto Lake Road, one of Camas’ busiest thoroughfares.

Sports field assessment back on table

A plan to assess the state of Camas’ sports fields is back on the table four months after the majority of Camas City Council members derailed the Parks and Recreation Department contract.

Washougal’s ‘Blind Woodsman’ tells life story in new book

John Furniss has told the story about his life, which has included bouts of chronic illness and depression, drug addiction, financial despair, the loss of his sight following a failed suicide attempt at the age of 16, a loving marriage, and a fulfilling career as a renowned woodworker, to audiences many times, especially during the past few years.

Washougal mixed martial arts fighter preps for second professional bout

Mihaela Keller-Loss has worked diligently to improve her grappling and wrestling techniques since switching from sport karate to mixed martial arts (MMA) several years ago. But the Washougal resident’s greatest strength continues to be her striking ability, which she used to win more than 20 world championships during her two decades as a karate fighter.

Washougal art lover named to commission

Yvonne Gee is not an artist herself, but she has become one of the key figures in the art community since moving to Washougal in 2019, publicly supporting and promoting the work of her partner, their friends, and local organizations.

Camas School District: The Camas School Board will hold a workshop at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in the Dennison board room at the Zellerbach Administration Center, 841 N.E. 22nd Ave., Camas.
