Obituaries for April 24, 2012

Loraine Roggenkamp died April 22, 2012. A vigil service will be held Wednesday, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas at 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be Thursday, at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas. Interment will follow at the Camas Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of arrangements.

A retirement party for Camas Police Department Det. Carol Buck will be held Friday, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Camas police station community room, 2100 N.E. Third Ave. Cake and punch will be served.

Vehicle thief is arrested in Washougal

A transient located in Washougal has been linked to numerous auto thefts in Washougal, Camas, Portland, Vancouver and Clark County. Daniel J. Ditlow, 30, was arrested April 12 for theft and possession of a stolen vehicle. Washougal Police Sgt. Brad Chicks had observed a green 1993 Honda in the area of "A" Street and Washougal River Road. The Honda was driven by a bald, white male with a black hooded sweatshirt.

Credit union sponsors free ‘shred days’ in May

In an ongoing effort to help people protect their personal information, Lacamas Community Credit Union is sponsoring two free shred day events in May. The Vancouver area Shred Day will be Saturday, May 5, at LCCU's Terrace Branch, 19200 S.E. 31st St., in Camas, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Skamania County Shred Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Stevenson Branch, 147 S.W. First St., in Stevenson. Both events are free and open to the public.

BPA discussions expected Monday

The issue of new, bigger and higher transmission towers will be on the next Washougal City Council workshop agenda. The workshop will be held Monday, at 6 p.m., in the council chambers at City Hall, 1701 "C" St.
