Camas schools will be unbalanced I would like to voice my concern over how the Camas School District is squandering away a rare opportunity to create a well-balanced socioeconomic student body population among all of its elementary and middle schools.

Two local dentists are challenging local residents to beat them to the finish line during Saturday'ss Student Stride for Education. The fundraising event for the Washougal Schools Foundation will be held at Washougal High School’s Fishback Stadium. Kindergarten, first- and second-grade students will run a 1.5K course, while third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students will run a 2K. Final flight at Fishback

With the thrill of becoming league champions still fresh in the minds of the Washougal track and field athletes and coaches, the Panthers took center stage Friday by hosting the 2A sub-district meet. "This was our most important meet so far," said junior sprinter and jumper Kaitlyn Johnson. "I wanted the Panthers to come out and do well for the community, and to show everybody that Washougal is a track town." Fueled by the home-field advantage, Johnson set three new personal bests at the event. First, she won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.67 seconds. Then Johnson and her sister Kari, Kelsey Lagerquist and Katie Wright took second in the 400 relay in 51.82 seconds. Johnson finished the day by leaping 33 feet, 7 inches to second place in the triple jump.

Earth Day was delightful in downtown Camas What a delightful way to spend Earth Day! The city of Camas showed an extraordinary ability to come together to beautify our charming downtown area. Helping hands came from the Mayor’s office, The Chamber of Commerce, the merchants, The DCA, the schools and the community at large. A flurry of activity involving pressure washers, shovels, rakes, brooms, new plantings and a topping of bark dust began in the early morning and continued until the end of the day.
