The city of Camas will host an open house later this month to update residents on the next phase of its Everett Street Corridor Improvements project, a long-planned effort aimed at improving safety, accessibility and traffic flow along a key stretch of state Route 500.
The open house, scheduled for 6 p.m. May 20, will give community members a chance to review updated design concepts for improvements along Northeast Everett Street between Northeast 35th and Northeast 43rd avenues, ask questions and provide feedback.
City officials say the project is the first phase of broader improvements planned for the Everett Street corridor, and that the current roadway is narrow and lacks consistent shoulders, sidewalks and bicycle facilities, creating safety concerns for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
Planned upgrades include roadway reconstruction, stormwater improvements, sidewalks, bike lanes, street lighting and roundabouts designed to improve mobility and access in the growing North Shore area.
City leaders say public input will help shape the final design as the project moves through its engineering phase, with construction funding and timelines still to be determined.
