An upcoming event will provide the opportunity for local professionals to network. The "New Year's Networking Extravaganza" will be held Wednesday, Jan. 12, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Clark County Event Center. The event is being co-hosted by Matthew Ferris, the new marketing manager for the Clark County Events Center, and the Women in Networking group.
Local residents wondering the worth of their aging treasures can take them to the Clark County Antique Show to have them appraised. The annual event will be held Jan. 22 and 23, at the Clark County Event Center. For $5 per object, expert evaluators will provide an estimated value.

A new business has a 1920s look and a Frank Sinatra vibe. Diners at the Birch Street Uptown Lounge are likely to hear the stylings of "Ol' Blue Eyes," as well as songs performed by Tony Bennett, Glenn Miller and Tom Jones. The Uptown Lounge opened Dec. 3, in downtown Camas, after a four-month renovation project in the space previously occupied by La Reve Boutique. The new business is located in the historic Clara Street Building, which was built in 1928. Lounge owners Kevin and Marlene Taylor, along with bartenders Dennis Kinsey and KJ DeBoer, serve pre-prohibition and classic cocktails, four varieties of whiskey and a selection of draft beers and international and Washington wines. Top sellers include lemon drops and Manhattans.
Lacamas Community Credit Union volunteers created festive gift baskets to give to members in need as part of its third annual holiday dinner basket program. The program allows members to nominate fellow members -- or themselves -- to receive a festive holiday basket with food items for a traditional holiday dinner. LCCU President/CEO Kathleen Romane started the dinner basket program in 2008 in response to worsening economic conditions.
A wide variety of food and gifts for people and pets is available at a new shop in Washougal. Wanda McFarlane opened Healthier Choices in late October. "We think people and pets should get healthier," she said. "This is not a health store. It is not totally 'green.' It is something in-between. It is greener than the average store."
The owner of Rushing Water Yoga, in downtown Camas, is providing area residents with several opportunities to learn about his trip to India.
Temple Financial will be helping three local families this holiday season. The local business is hoping the community can also participate by making donations. Tags on a "Giving Christmas Tree" in the office list the items needed.
As the need for donated blood continues through the holidays, several blood drives are scheduled this month in the Camas-Washougal area.
