What are the obstacles to airport plan? I live in Fern Prairie. My property is adjacent to Grove Field airport on two sides and right underneath the airport traffic pattern. I like the sound of small airplanes. One of the reasons I moved to Fern Prairie was because of the availability of Grove Field.
Yale Valley is not 'unpopulated' I wish to correct the impression being given the public by some members of the anti-BPA powerline groups. Their pet project has been the so-called "Eastern Route," and to promote it, they like to refer to it as "unpopulated" and "land owned by timber companies." In fact, this proposed line zigzags through eastern Yale Valley and impacts hundreds of residents there. There are a number of homes within a few hundred feet of the line, and, yes, children live in some of those, also. This is not a line through an "unpopulated area" as they are eager to assert.
U.S. government must stop borrowing money The time has come to stop borrowing money to pay for U.S. government spending. The current debt limit will be reached in March. I believe the best course is to deny any further increase.
Door-to-door sales take a scary turn I think something needs to be done about the recent rush of pushy door to door salesmen in the area. I know several people who are scared to answer their door anymore and I don't blame them.
If allegations are true, Guard should resign If found true, Mayor Guard should resign over the abuse of his perceived station and agency power by using emergency lights whilst driving a publicly owned vehicle outside the city limits of Washougal. The state auditor should review Guard's income and expenses involving the use of the retired police cruiser, including fuel and maintenance.
Speak out against BPA plan Bonneville Power Administration is coming, are Camas citizens ready? BPA has created multiple 5oo kilovolt transmission line routes through populated areas and all cross the Columbia river at Camas to get to the Troutdale substation. Many impacted citizens have opposed the oppressive lines and are concerned about health risks, environmental impacts and property values.

Council needs to drop personal agendas I just read the article regarding the Washougal City Council tabling Mike Briggs' appointment to the Planning Commission. First, the interview and vetting process is open and inclusive.
Athletic program financing explained First of all, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your support of the student athletes in the Camas School District. It has been a great fall and you have been there for our teams every step of the way. The support we get from our students, parents, boosters, community, staff and administration is outstanding and has been noticed with envy by many of our opponents. Thanks for all you do for our kids.
