Washougal nabs $2 million grant for street safety

The city of Washougal has received a $2.06 million grant from the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) Safe Routes to School program will help improve safety to a highly trafficked section of 39th Street near Washougal High School.

Student honored for work to improve school climate

During the 2024 Jostens Renaissance Global Conference (JRGC), held last July in Orlando, Florida, Washougal High School senior Riley Vaughan was struck by the keynote address, which she said made her realize how important it is to be authentic in her altruistic endeavors.

Camas High School’s tennis court revamp gets environmental OK from City

The city of Camas has determined the Camas School District’s plan to revamp the Camas High School tennis courts — adding an all-weather dome and resurfacing the courts, installing new lights and improving an adjacent parking lot — will not adversely impact the environment.

Community weighs in on Camas School District’s looming budget cuts

Camas School District leaders say they will take the results of a community-wide survey that captured input from nearly 1,000 respondents into account as they begin to prepare budget cut recommendations expected to slash the district’s general fund budget by at least 10% before the 2025-26 school year.

Washougal School Board member calls for transparency

A Washougal School Board member is calling for more transparency from Washougal School District (WSD) leaders, who he claimed failed to notify the Board in a timely manner about a financial warning the district received from the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
