Camas School Board addresses depleted reserves

Members of the Camas School Board are addressing the school district’s “critically low” general fund reserves and may soon adopt a new policy that would establish a minimum percentage of money that must be held over each year to cover ongoing and unexpected expenses.

Washougal School District receives ‘financial warning’ from state

The Washougal School District (WSD) has received a “financial warning” from the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s (OSPI)’s School District Financial Health Indicators Model, indicating that the district is “facing potential difficulties.”

Camas SD budget survey open through Nov. 6

The Camas School District’s “Balancing the Budget” survey, collecting public input on the district’s need to make 10-12% budget cuts ahead of the 2025-26 school year, is live online and available to the public through Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Settlement will fund vape sensors in Camas schools

Vaping inside Camas schools is set to get even tougher thanks to a class-action lawsuit settlement with the electronic cigarette maker, JUUL, which has paid more than $1 billion to at least 45 states for marketing its addictive, high-nicotine vaping products to underage teenagers.
